What Is Synthetic Barrel Tile?

The Spanish or Mission barrel profile, moulded in polymer rather than fired from clay. Clay barrel is beautiful and extremely heavy, and it breaks -- a walked tile is a cracked tile. Composite gives the same silhouette and the same shadow at a weight an ordinary roof structure can carry.

Why Choose Synthetic Barrel Tile

  • The barrel silhouette without clay's weight or brittleness
  • Walkable, so maintenance does not mean breakage
  • Colour through the tile rather than a fired-on glaze
  • No structural reinforcement needed on a typical house

Common Questions

Do you install real clay tile?

No. We install the synthetic barrel profile. Clay's weight usually means structural work, and it breaks under foot traffic.

Does it look like clay from the street?

Yes. The profile is moulded from clay barrel tile, so the curve and the shadow line are the original's.
